Relentless, restless, and utterly fantastic – it’s amazing that Wild Cub, this awesome track “Thunder Clatter”, and their album Youth (which dropped in August) haven’t exploded even bigger. The fact that this track has been available for almost four months without mass exposure is pretty amazing, as well as pretty sad. We’re here to rectify that though.
“Thunder Clatter” doesn’t exactly sound like the title describes in the way some things do with names. Instead the clatter is the clatter of love in Keegan DeWitt’s lyrics describing how it is obscured, how love is found, and the real beauty of love encompassing the center of your being. When you hear the jangly sounds, hand claps, and assorted infections of this track, you’ll know what I mean. These are the kind of tracks that folks can’t get enough of.
Wait one minute, I had to listen for it, it was hidden in the fall
Those words pretty much sum up the theme of the track, as well as how this gem escaped detection for a few months. The most amazing thing about Wild Cub? They are a short drive away from my new home, right in the heart of Nashville.
If you live nearby, you are lucky cause Wild Cub are playing Nashville like they own it. Tonight they’ll be @ High Watt, on December 1st @ Exit/In, December 10th @ The Mercy Lounge, and December 14th they are also at The Stone Fox.
