Mmmm, tunes from right here in Nashville. Not just tunes, but good ones. With guitars, which is not a required ingredient but it certainly helps where Sirens of Decay is concerned. Good news for those of you not into guitars though – Vinyl Thief has those fancy synths too and “Smooth” sounds proper glorious when you blast it out of a good set of speakers in a vehicle. Thankfully, if you lack a vehicle, a good set of headphones will do just fine.
It’s been a good sum of days since I heard from Vinyl Thief. Last time around they were releasing their Rebel Hill EP, and I was writing about “Pipes”. Now they are onto bigger and better things with the release of “Smooth”, the first single off their upcoming LP Fathoms. As my three year old would say, “Can has now please?!” This new single could fill up any arena you wanted to put it in, with stirring melodies and verses perfect for crowd participation. The chorus is soaring, as you might have predicted from my arena comment, but it’s those soft verses that resonate with me between plays. “Smooth” is an apt title, as Vinyl Thief sounds bigger but without losing any of their usual quality. If anything, they sound better.
There’s no set release date for Fathoms, but rest assured I’ll let you know when I know.
