Class recently started for me and I’m finally into the “good part”, as I have referred to it when speaking with my wife and friends. The “good part” is major-specific classes, or at least non-general studies programs. Part of my major contains an elective on American Popular Culture, and I’ve been learning some interesting thing about popular culture…mainly that folks don’t really understand what popular culture is. Turns out this is the curse of society in general…most of us talk about things without understanding the half of it.
I’m one of those people – particularly when it comes to discusses genres of music I enjoy but am unfamiliar with. A lack of understanding doesn’t always mean a lack of appreciation, after all. Luckily for me, I understand Some Minor Noise and their genre quite well. They have a new, quite elegant indie pop single in “Understanding” that I thought tied well into this discussion. Not because of it’s subject matter, no, that’s not it. I felt the atmosphere the group created in this new track, combined with the title, was enough for me to talk a lot about nothing. See there, I hooked you with the beginnings of a coherent thought and just let it peter out into nothing.
Look at things from the bright side. You got to listen to this wonderful track, at least. Some Minor Noise is a pretty sweet band name, as well. Go go duos.
