It’s been a long time since Lupe Fiasco came to ears. There was Lasers, but I think we all know what that album actually was. This track definitely touches on some interesting subjects…maybe I should say hot button topics?
It follows the narrative from a priest who is overtaken by a demon he is trying to contain in the beginning and spirals outward from there. Questionable priests and torture in a hip-hop track? Yeah, you don’t hear that often.
It’s a pretty good track, though it’s definitely not gonna blow up the charts. Ultimately I’m just enthused that Lupe is being Lupe instead of the superstar; he’s better when he’s being a conscious rapper and he knows it. Too bad Atlantic didn’t.[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0fSCoOfQqU&w=675&h=340]
