“Name In Lights” is more great pop music from Little Daylight, the NYC trio who already graced us all with the excellent “Overdose”. This new track features layers and layers of female vox over a slightly-a-kilter beat that really vibes with me. Everything sound-wise is superb, an ethereal experience that reminds me of foggy nights in a forest, if the forest had colorful flashes of light shooting in every direction.
It amazes me how groups emerge with those first two great singles so often nowadays. On the one hand, it’s great for making playlists. On the other, it creates a huge bar that the band will always have all their other work compared to. It’s really been a while since I can remember a band releasing a third or fourth album that was better than the debut effort.
