The awesome sounds of Huntington Beach based Hindu Pirates soak through on “We Used To Run”, a memorable rocker laced with reverb and an infinitely fan-friendly chorus and verse structure that’s sure you to get your blood pumping. This track gets embedded in the cranium pretty quickly due to the familiar refrain – it seems like Hindu Pirates endeavored to keep things as simple and true to form as possible and create what would ultimately be a bit of a love anthem.
I’ve noticed in the (several) playthroughs I’ve done that occasionally there are some keys or piano floating along in the background. It sounds positively exquisite – it’s lined up so well with the guitar that I didn’t even pick it out at first. There’s a tinge of surf rock sound in there, but for the most part it’s not quite as garage-y or surf-y as I was lead to believe. It is still great, however.
“We Used To Run” is off a four track EP completed at Hurley Studios by Hindu Pirates. They also have a full length titled Pelican Daze floating around on iTunes.
