Cosmoooooooo! I’ve been queued up for the official debut of Cosmo Sheldrake like an electronics junkie camped outside of Best Buy on Black Friday; waiting patiently, staking my claim, making sure I get my ears on the London producer’s quirky beauty double fast.
Mr. Sheldrake has made a rapid ascent into the top five of my favorite indie artists churning through Sirens. His music captures the fantastical and the technical in one huge swirl of thick beats and unconventional deliveries, providing the listener with an experience that is quite unlike anything else popping up at the moment. Alas, he’s never once released a commercial single. You couldn’t buy them anywhere and most of his tracks were unavailable for download by legal means.
Enter “The Moss”, Cosmo Sheldrake’s debut single and “an ode to nonsense for its own sake” that will be released in a limited 7” on Paradyse Records. Touching on many of the classic figures of nonsense literature, Mr. Sheldrake’s latest track combines his signature production style with a satisfying shift to a more pop inspired vocal delivery. In short, Cosmo has always been fairly catchy in an unorthodox manner; on “The Moss” he evolves a step further, creating a track you’ll be echoing on your next drive to work or class.
It’s not often that a track is so anticipated and still manages to deliver on all fronts. “The Moss” will capture your imagination along with your ears.
You can pre-order The Moss 7″ at Paradyse Records. It will be limited to 250 copies, so get it quick.
By the way, Cosmo…what’s up with the washing machine/dryer on the album art?
