Providence synth rockers Magic Man are blowing up everywhere. Why not on Sirens of Decay? To be honest, I didn’t know the first thing about them. I had never heard a single track by the band until early yesterday. Even if I had seen one of their tracks I might’ve overlooked it due to the name of the band…it doesn’t really give you a good sense of what they are about. If I had known I would’ve been there day one.
So early yesterday an e-mail arrives with the MP3 of “Texas” nestled within and I was like, “Hmm, really? Okay then.” Today, I’m writing about the track and you’re gonna hear it (assuming you haven’t already), so that sums up how much I loved “Texas”. It’s the song of the week for Sirens. No small feat, right?
This is one expansive song – it’s like Magic Man came out of Rhode Island with a mission to create a sound bigger than their entire state. Maybe that’s why they chose the name “Texas”. Maybe it’s just me reading too much into it. All I can say is that the driving vocals and those glorious, glorious synths heard within this track will make your head rattle in delight.
YOU’RE ABOUT TO EMBARK ON THE MOST WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE OF YOUR LIFE…that’s what a unknown voice intones in the intro to “Texas”. A guy on Soundcloud made a comment on the track that says simply, “livin up to your intro”. Can’t say it much better than that. This track is electric. That album art is electric as hell too. Who designed that? I want to talk to them.
Download or stream “Texas” below. While you’re at it, check out and download their first single “Paris”. It’s pretty great as well. I cannot wait for more from these guys.
