This video from RATKING for “So Sick Stories” is grimy; a bleak, street level look at NYC from the mouths of Wiki and Hak. The cut radiates both familiarity and decay delivering a knee to the teeth of pretty much every hip-hop track you see dominating the charts.
Waxing cynical over an incessantly dark rhythm, RATKING lay down a portrait of life with the help of the gritty voice of King Krule. His vox and musical style fit the modus operandi of these New Yorkers tighter than OJ’s Isotoners.
Plus, there’s something oddly endearing about Wiki’s New York Rangers-esque smile.
You can pre-order RATKING’s debut LP So It Goes on iTunes and get a download of “So Sick Stories” (as well as “Canal”) while you’re at it. It’s due out April 8th.
