Melt away on a mild Friday night with Trust Fund’s newest track “No Surprise”, a sweetheart of a song about returning old friends and the relationship dynamics therein. That was a horrible sell-job by me, but you can trust me, I’m an
expert (ed. note: let’s go with enthusiast instead). This is a great track.
There’s something charming about bedroom pop in it’s many forms – it has really eclipsed my head over heels crush on garage rock as my new favorite kind of musical discovery. When there’s just enough melody or chorus to hook your ears beyond the grainy aesthetic, I’m in proverbial “hog heaven”. Trust Fund’s brand endears and indoctrinates your earballs into the wealth of talent that is being cultivated at Reeks of Effort. They’ve even got a neat little project going with Art Is Hard, whom I was just gushing about again a few days back.
“No Surprise” is part of the compilation Sick of Hits Vol. 2, which you can get on cassette or digitally via Bandcamp. It’s out April 28th.
