Unsolicited submissions are hit and miss at best. I would rate the success level at somewhere around 70-100 that I like out of every 1000 received. Other sites have an even more outrageous ratio, but they also have even more damage done to their inbox daily. My wife and I have been working on a project in the garage and we came in to grab a bite of lunch when I received this baby from Sunboy with the title “Something you might wanna hear”. Okay then, we’ll see.
I get that kind of thing a lot too, but this time Sunboy was right. I did want to hear it. “Anxious People” left me feeling anything but, as it combines falsetto vocals and a myriad of electronics into this weird half-chill pseudo-dance audio that appealed to my heart immediately. As I’ve said many times, you can set a bar for most artists with how the song builds, the crescendo, going somewhere…whatever you want to label it. Does the song deliver? Is there a payoff? Starting at the two minute mark “Anxious People” begins to grow, concluding on this climactic exhalation of guitars and vox that goes full bore on the psychedelics hinted at throughout the track. Oh yeah.
If you’re intrigued and still reading, Sunboy are a duo and there is a full LP in the works (they are finishing up production) titled Vertigogo. “Anxious People” is the first single.
