Noteworthy (MP3): Yalls – Warlords

Talk about a plethora of impressions based on a title. Yalls single “Warlords” has the market cornered on preconception. When I first saw the band name and song title, I was expecting some southern rock with a bro-ish slant (ed. note: that’s why I don’t gamble). Instead, Yalls is the project of Berkeley, CA native Dan Casey – an electronic production, no less – and about as relaxed as it gets.

“Warlords” is violence anesthetized – there’s nothing intimidating about it, its simply engaging and wonderful pop. The fluid noise of Yalls will soundtrack your day with energetic beeps and boops and a skittering rhythm, while Casey’s vocals feel like they narrate from a distance describing the scene.

United will be out May 6th on Gold Robot Records. You can pre-order the album at this link.
