You could probably count the number of instrumentals I’ve posted over the last two years on two hands. It’s just not something that comes across my inbox often, nor is it something I keep an eye out for. Sirens deals almost exclusively in rock and sickly sweet pop, but sometimes…sometimes, a pretty instrumental catches our eye like that girl at the high school dance. You know the one, right?
Sweet Valley is Nathan Williams (whom you may know as the frontman of Wavves) and his brother Kynan. They apparently decided that it’d be awesome if they went on a beat making spree and just turned some crazy sounds on their heads for our entertainment. I endorse this activity wholeheartedly.
“Total Carnage” sounds nothing like the name would imply, however, that’s not to say that the name isn’t accurate. This track takes American Bandstand breaks and just destroys them in all kinds of musical madness creating this eerily reminiscent but quirky new piece that is absolutely made for your headphones, the beach, and summertime.
