Until yesterday I knew little and less about Fort Lean. They’ve popped up in my inbox more than once, but I never gave them a good listen for some reason. I’m not sure if it was because I had too many others, or a just the name of the band itself. It doesn’t sound like the name of an anthemic rock group. It sounds like some kind of hip-hop or electronic outfit. The first thing that came to mind was Fort Minor.
“Sunsick”, though, is fire. The percussion is a concussive blast, straight out assault and battery of the kit. The vocals of Keenan Mitchell have been described as a siren-like wail…I like that description, for obvious reasons. His voice is strong and soaring, and definitely takes “Sunsick” to a new level.
