I found LA-based The Dead Ships while scouring the internet for new music, stumbling across them via Buzzbands LA. I’m glad I did.
The Dead Ships create jams made for beers and dimly lit bars, enhanced by gruff vocals and pop melodies that enhance the sound into something destined to leave behind those self-same bar room floors. “You Were Young” is my favorite track off their excellent The Dead Ships EP. It’s filled with ooh’s and whoa’s, backed by some sparse garage rock instrumentation that jangles right along to vocalist Devlin McCluskey’s soulful vocals.
At 2:27 into the track, the song takes on a new life and roars into “A” status, cementing this duo as a band to watch.
