The Eyelid Kid aka Max Greenhalgh aka Inspired and the Sleep released his debut Teenager. today on Bandcamp for $1. The price is so low that it’s almost criminal for you to take it, but take it you should if for no other reason than every single project or track we’ve heard from Max to this point has been golden.
First there was the infectious “While We’re Young”, then the whimsical and mood improving “Running”. Just when you thought he was done, he dropped a Valentine’s spot with “What I Want And What I Need (feat. Kaila Abruzzo)”. This was followed by my favorite so far, “Take Pills (Instructed Bliss)”.
Oh, I forgot to mention he is part of another project called Tan Sister Radio that has a couple great tracks floating around.
You gotta admit this dude is prolific and talented to the max, pardon the pun.
So what’s Teenager. like? If you like any of the above tracks (and if you read this blog you likely do) then expect the same kind of breezy vibes, minimalistic sound, and pop sensibilities you’ve come to expect. “While We’re Young”, “Running” and “Take Pills (Instructed Bliss)” are included in the ten track album.
I particularly like “Sssuuunnnish” and “You’ll Be A Tree, I’ll Be A Cloud” from the new entries to the Greenhalgh catalog. “You’ll Be A Tree, I’ll Be A Cloud” is an interesting take on the Inspired and the Sleep sound; it soars a little more and the percussion and cymbals really add a nice dimension.
Be sure to head over to Bandcamp and pick this album up. For doing so, you’ll also receive three bonus B-sides that aren’t going to be available elsewhere. So thirteen great tracks for $1. Can’t beat it. Give Teenager. a listen below.
