Sirens is a music blog from the way back and not too distant future, focusing on sounds that excite and specializing in moving your heart. We’re here to take you a little farther off the beaten path than you might be comfortable with in hopes that you’ll find another new sound you can’t live without.
Ideally, you’ll then continue to spread that wonderful noise on to your own friends. That will allow these struggling musicians featured here to be able to afford the gas and food it takes to get them to your city and play a show for you!
This is not a bleeding edge blog. We won’t have the latest track from latest and greatest minutes after it hits the web. I’ve got kids, a wife, and a life outside of Sirens of Decay.
My promise to you is that you will find great music. It may be two weeks late or it may be the first time it’s ever graced a music blog. I’m not concerned with being first to the presses. I’m concerned with finding good stuff, posting good stuff, and providing an entertaining platform for you to discover that “good stuff” with.
In the early days of the site, I focused on mainly the more “established” acts in the indie world. Since 2012 began and we moved away from Tumblr, we finally had enough true indie submissions to focus on featuring artists that you probably really haven’t heard of.
I still toss in the occasional breakout artist, but my preferred method is to showcase the folks who haven’t received a lot of play otherwise. Lots of folks do the former, not enough blogs do the latter.
If you’d like to have your music or videos featured on Sirens of Decay, drop me a line. If you’re sending tracks for review, please upload them to Bandcamp, Soundcloud, or send attached MP3s. I love to hear new stuff, but with the amount of submissions rolling in I can’t go sign up for every website and mailing list just to get at a single to embed, so stick to those formats and we’ll be pals. On that note, I can only embed videos from Vimeo and Youtube.
Those two mugs over there are me and my beautiful wife. We are lucky enough to have two rowdy little boys, and we currently reside in Bowling Green, KY – a short drive away from Louisville, Lexington, and Nashville. You could say it’s a good place to be when it comes to music.
When I’m not working on something involving Sirens (updating the site, listening to music, browsing other great blogs), you can find me attending college or chasing my two children around the house. Sometimes I can be found watching extreme amounts of hockey and football.
Finally, I completely and humbly appreciate all of you for sending your music in to me. I’ve discovered so many great artists this way, as well as some great people behind them. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to hear your work and let others hear it as well.
And for old time sake, this is what we (at the time it was myself and my best friend Matt (that’s him strumming the fake guitar in that ugly banner pic)) looked like in our very first incarnation from October 2010 to April 2011 before moving to Tumblr. Don’t you laugh! No, really, lulz below:
